After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, as well as Kinesiology with emphasis in Human Nutrition, at Simon Fraser University, in British Columbia, Dr. Shin then obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus University in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Shin has diverse experience working in different settings of mode of optometry and in various regions throughout North America. Her externship history includes the Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Montrose, NY, with a focus on primary care in geriatric population, Coastal Eye Care in Prince Rupert, BC, with heavy emphasis on ocular disease, Silicon Valley Eye Physicians in Sunnyvale, CA, for specialty contact lens training, and The Eye Institute, PA specializing in primary care optometry. Dr. Shin received honors for clinical excellence and professional conduct from Salus in the areas of specialty contact lens and primary care settings.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Shin speaks Korean fluently. She is also the mother of two active young kids and is delighted to have recently returned to the Pacific Northwest where her husband and her daughter were both born. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, playing piano, participating in bible study and church activity, and decorating her new home.
